Silk's sire Moorella Montana Mac is related to a number of palomino polo ponies, including being a full sister to Chili Pepper and the sire of Moorella Kentucky Babe. He has been very successful in palomino and open classes, led and under saddle. Silk's sire was selected to use by Chalani as he has an exceptional temperament, his owner's young children even learning to ride on him. He was also selected because of his traditional bloodlines going back to Silver Lynn (strong jumping bloodlines, and mentioned in 'The Palomino Horse' as one of the great Australian palomino foundation sires of all time). Also, the fact he is free of any outcrosses except for some TB blood (jumping lines). He stands at Sheregan Park Stud.
Silk has won the Grand Champion Palomino Award for 3 years running (under interstate judges) at the Dilutes South Australia Championships. Silk was leased by Catriona Murdoch for Adult Riding Club and general pleasure riding for several years. At her first show as a 3yo, Silk was awarded Champion Palomino at the APSB Youngstock Show 2009 (March). Click play on the footage above to see Silk at this show. |
