Melrose was broken in by John and Linda O'Leary in 2010. Melrose is a lovely moving mare and proved balanced to ride under saddle, despite green-ness. She has a comfortable to ride canter so typical of the Splashdance progeny. Unfortunately a leg injury has prevented her from competing under saddle.
Melrose is from Chalani Laura, a highly successful mare winning in led and ridden Royal ASH classes, placing in ASH National Show hack & dressage (2002) and winning at National level Pony Club dressage competition. Her grandam Mylor Miss is the dam and sister to mulitple A grade polo ponies (2 played by Mark Lindh and others produced by the Warren family). Melrose has a similar look to her sire's full sister, the Royal Champion "Festival". Video footage June 2010 with Linda O'Leary riding. Video footage shows her first trot out lesson in October 2008. |
