Chalani Card Tricks (Trixie) is a beautiful big ASH mare with a huge stride and plenty of ability across disciplines. Trixie was immediately obvious as a nice ride when being broken in and she has since proven extremely versatile. Kim noticed that having competed 5 of the 6 horses in the first 2 generations of her pedigree, Trixie felt like she combined the best of each of the horses in her bloodlines. Over the years, Trixie has been educated to lateral work for dressage (shoulder-in, leg-yield, half pass, travers etc), lengthen trot, flying changes, haunch turns and working a cow.
Trixie was first shown under saddle in the open hack ring, as a Newcomer Show Hunter, claiming runner up at one of the HOY SA Show Horse Council shows. She won at various Ag shows including Champion Show Hunter at Mt Barker, also winning in handy horse the same day.
With Kim Ide riding, Trixie was Supreme Champion Ridden ASH at Adelaide Royal in 2022 (winning Champion Working ASH). She also won Best Presented ASH, Youth Hack and Youth Working with Ashton Ide. She went on to win at Canberra Royal 2023 in the ASH Hack Mare over 15hh. She also placed 2nd in the Led ASH Mare over 15hh and in the Working Mare and Senior Time Trial at Canberra Royal. In 2024 she placed in dressage and hack classes at the ASH National Show.
Known at Pony Club camp as 'The horse that the instructors want to steal', she developed a reputation for being a capable and fun youth horse with Ashton Ide riding. In 2023 for the virtual Pony Club National competition, Trixie and Ashton took out the win in the overall Sub-Junior Dressage category (3 preliminary tests), with 2 x 1st places and 1 x 2nd place.
Trixie is a natural on a cow, soft and easy to ride and rates cattle beautifully. She has only been lightly campdrafted, due to a lack of local drafts, making several finals with scores to 89. She has placed in Junior drafts with Ashton.
Trixie has been Supreme Champion Ridden at the South Australian Buckskin Association SA State Championships twice in a row 2023 and 2024. In 2024 at the SABA State Championships she was undefeated in the Ridden classes (ridden, hunter, pleasure, educated) and also was the Champion Led Buckskin Mare.
