Brettyboy died suddenly last night of a heart attack with Gary by his side. We are absolutely heartbroken, as this horse meant the absolute world to us, a gentleman through and through. 
Brett began his show career at Sydney Royal Easter show at the old Showgrounds as an unweaned colt leaving his mum in the stable while he ventured off by himself to win his first Royal broad sash. He continued on his winning ways gaining Royal Supremes and Champions at Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane Royals.
He was the first coloured horse to win Supreme Champion Stock Horse at a Royal and was also Champion ASH hack at the 2002 ASH Nationals. He won 54 x Royal Champions. There was nothing Brett couldn’t do. He was an amazing huntsman's horse jumping many wire fences with ease. He was a very impressive showjumper, going from jumping at Canberra Royal straight to a ridden class and straight back to a jump off. I did some dressage with him, Gary did some eventing, he chased cattle and did a bit of whatever was required, he was just a joy to ride and a true allrounder.
We retired him from showing at 11 years old and then unfortunately he had a freak accident which ended his performance career. Through the years I have often thought of how much more he could have done. Brett was a character. One year we put him out with a bunch of mares to serve and about 6 weeks later I heard a commotion outside my bedroom and Brett had jumped 2 fences and wanted back in his paddock.  He sired many, many beautiful babies who not only won Top Honours as show horses but competed in every discipline I can think of.  Brett had a fantastic life and knew he was very much loved.
