Surprise's dam Halsteds Gidget was bought unbeknown in foal to Peppins Young Ivory. It was only 4 months later we realised she was pregnant. Hence this foal was called Surprise. Surprise was an instant hit at the stud due to her engaging personality and very quiet nature. She was a "keeper" virtually from the minute she was born.

Surprise was broken in by Kim and was taken to Lucindale for the SA Futurity and their Ag Show in which she was highly successful (see performance record). She then travelled to Tamworth for the 2021 ASH National Championships adapting to travel and  stable life very well, and performing very creditably for one so young.

Since the Nationals she has been spelled and used as an occasional riding horse for Jeanette. Recently she has been used  by Ashton as a lead pony, and taken to the beach, riding club, poles clinic, lessons, Pony Club and dressage. She is the ultimate quiet, reliable horse.

Surprise is a 3/4 sister in blood to Halsteds Gabrielle, sold for $22k at 2022 Berragooon Sale, the catalogue stating:

"Gabrielle is an easy going mare with a very soft mouth. She was sent over to Tasmania to play the 2020 polocrosse season (due to Covid shutting our season down). She was played in Womens and she was also played by a junior in Open competition where she took away numerous horse and rider and overall horse awards."
